CINERGY/ULH&P AWARDS NEXT LEVEL MENTORING PROGRAM $2000 FOR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

CINCINNATI—The Cinergy Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Union Light, Heat and Power has awarded the Next Level Mentoring Program $2000 for its Personal Development program. The grant is part of more than $280,320 that the Cinergy Foundation has awarded in Kentucky so far this year.

“Philanthropy has become an integral part of the way we do business,” said Rhonda Whitaker, Area Manager for Cinergy/ULH&P. “Our companies have deep roots in the communities we serve, and we’ve established a tradition of giving back to the areas where we operate.”

The Personal Development program of Next Level is comprised of comprehensive activity-based workshops designed to improve soft skills. Students participate in workshops addressing soft skills that are critical for success in a college environment as well as a professional career. Topics such as time management, communication, leadership, problem solving, and positive self-image, to name a few, are highlighted during monthly workshops. Following completion of the monthly workshops, Next Level mentors encourage youth to apply newly learned skills into their daily routine.

“Here at Next Level, we believe in our motto: Knowledge is the catalyst that transforms dreams into reality. Youth today need exposure to the importance of self-development and the integral role it will play in their future success,” said Walter Ingram, President/Executive Director for Next Level.

The Next Level Mentoring Program is a community-based, non-profit 501c3 organization that aspires to assist high school students grades 8-12 who have the desire to continue their education beyond high school. The services provided by the Next Level complements the main mission of the organization: To provide minority youth, primarily African-American, in our community with the skills and knowledge to maximize their potential to continue higher education post high school. Each year the Cinergy Foundation reinvests a portion of the pretax profits of its regulated operating companies in the communities it serves. Cinergy Corp. is the parent company of PSI Energy Inc. and The Cincinnati Gas & Electric Co., serving 1.5 million electric customers and about 500,000 gas customers in Indiana, southwest Ohio and northern Kentucky.
